Last day of February

Tomorrow is March 1st already! Let's hope that Spring will be here then too. We've had a very cold and rainy weekend. It's looking like today will be more of the same. We took the kids out for breakfast yesterday and already people in Savannah are getting their green out for St. Patricks Day, I've never seen so many green suits on men before, lol. St. Patricks Day in Savannah is a huge undertaking. We have the second largest parade on that day in the United States and the whole month of March is dedicated to celebrating. We even get out of school that day! I had never seen anything like it until we moved here 2 and a half years ago.

I've seen Myriam a couple of times this weekend and as to be expected she is experiencing a lot of lows. I feel so bad for her and wish there was something more I can do. Her kids won't be there next weekend, her soon to be ex husband will have them, so I think Ben and I are going to have her over here for dinner. She found out that Harold, her husband, has been seeing this girl since November. I still don't get it but in the end it is him that is losing out in the biggest way.

We're starting CPR in my Intro to Healthcare class today. We have to be certified in that and in First Aid. Only a few more weeks and I'm done with this semester. I am really ready for it to be over with. I've throughly enjoyed the classes but there is so much homework they are piling on right now.

Justin came up to my yesterday and said mommy you are so pretty and I love you so much, gave me a hug and kiss and went back to playing. Love those moments :)

You all have a great last day of February and think Spring thoughts :)

My crazy stressful day

My day yesterday made me really realize how truly lucky I am to have a wonderful husband who loves me and who keeps our sacred marriage vows. Granted we have had some rough patches in the past but we work through them together, after all that is what marriage is about when you find that special someone to spend the rest of your life with.

I got a call early yesterday morning from my friend Myriam. She wanted to know if I had class, which I did but not till the evening, and if I could meet her at the hospital. She had outpatient surgery last week, female stuff, so I thought oh no complications from that. She was calling me from the back of a police car! She was on her way to be mentally evaluated. Yep my jaw dropped, it did a lot of that yesterday. Apparently she has been getting mixed signals from her husband and just felt like something was off between them. For the past month, he has barely been able to look at her, very irritable, has his cell phone glued to him and doesn't really talk to her. Yesterday morning she had it. She also found that his car keys had mysteriously vanished from her key ring. So she found them and proceeded to go through his trunk, which he was there and was very nervous and tried to stop her. She found a package from another girl who had sent him somethings. After several rounds of arguements he confessed that he had been seeing someone else. He is in the National Guard and when he goes for Guard weekend in Florida that is where this other woman is. 2 years ago he had cheated on Myriam, altho he said that time they didn't have sex, but he was emotionally involved with this woman. Myriam told him then, that he had one chance and that was it, they went to counseling and everything. Of course it has always been in the back of her mind, it would have been in mine as well. I won't go into the details of what happened after that, needless to say her husband said he felt scared for his life and called the cops on her. So I got my boys on the bus and headed for the hospital when I got another call from our friend Julie who said Myriam is now on her way to jail! OMG!! I get there, never having done this before, and from what I could get is that she was being charged with obstruction of Justice ( she tried to make the policemen not go into her house) and another charge. Thankfully they released her on her own recognizes (spelling) and I paid a 13 dollar warrent fee to get her out. She has to go back on the 22nd of March for her court date. We finally make it out of there after 2, I call her husband to tell him she needs keys to the house and vehicle and to meet us there which he did. He had all of his clothes in his car. The whole thing just makes me sick and so very sad especially for her two children. She did tell me that it was the most awesome feeling in the world to know that you could call someone and they would be there. I don't think she has ever had that before. I'm just glad I could be and I pray that her and her kids will be alright.

Then after all this I go and take a test in Medical terms last night.....have to wait and see on that one!

Ben had 4 days off in a row, yes 4 and it was wonderful! He had Presidents Day off yesterday too but of course the kids and I didn't. Which is a little surprising since it is President's Day! It seemed like the weekend just flew by. Saturday was the day that Ben and I had met 15 years ago. Matthew was stunned that his dad remembered, lol. Needless to say Ben made the day very special, just having him here is special. We're still unsure if he will be going to Germany than Iraq. If the commander over at the hospital doesn't sign his request for a medical review then he will be going next month. I have this feeling deep down that he will be going but it's still wait and see at this moment. I signed up yesterday for my classes for the Spring quarter, woo spring love that word! I found out that I only have ONE more class to take before I start the nursing program, which if I get accepted should be this Fall although there is a year waiting list to get in! Thats a little discouraging but I know this is something that I want so the wait will be worth it. Now I just gotta get through this quarter. Speaking of school, time to wake up the boys :)

A single red rose, cute teddybear and romantic card = a very special Valentines this year. Finally after 4 years of not celebrating this day together we did. I know its just another day but Ben and I met each other the week after Valentines so it does hold a significant place in our hearts. Saturday he took me out to dinner and then we went to the Riverwalk and had a wonderful time just him and I. We haven't done that in forever. I thank God everyday for having Ben in my life and I cherish every minute that we have together.

Germs go away!

We took Matthew in to the doctor on Wednesday and he said it was a virus that was going around and gave him some extra strength cough meds. The waiting room was FULL of kids! He was feeling well enough to go to school yesterday but was exhausted when he came home. I told him he didn't have to go since the doctor had said either Thursday or Friday but he wanted to try. He's doing a little better though. Justin....he came home Wednesday and just looked tired and ended up throwing up that night and yesterday morning along with this morning. He did keep crackers and bread down yesterday though and water is his new best friend. I tell you, I bleached everything I could in this house, sprayed the rest with Lysol. Germs are no longer welcomed here :) Poor Justin, he looked at me and said, "Momma I wash my hands and I still get sick?" I feel so bad for them :(

I did manage to make it to my medical terms class last night, I was tired when I came home though. I made a 94 on my last test. Woohoo, thank you! lol Now we are going over the eyes, ears and skin. A lot of the stuff on the skin I had learned years ago when I was in cosmotology school.

Ben wanted to celebrate Valentines Day tomorrow evening. Now we'll see how the boys are doing. If not there is always next weekend. I have class Monday evening and won't be home till 8. This is the first Valentines Day in 4 years that we will be able to spend together! Either he was deployed or had field manuevers. Just having him here is a gift to me :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Prayers for our troops overseas....

Catching up

Parent teacher conferences went very well last Friday thankfully. They all are doing good. Justin sometimes has a hard time focusing during Math class and wants to rush through it and of course is a little too talkative so we are working on both of that. Matthew stayed home yesterday because he isn't feeling well...I think it's that respiratory flu that is going around. I'm going to keep him home again today and if he's not better then make an appointment for him tomorrow. I feel so helpless when they are sick!

I had my first test in my Diet and Nutrition Therapy class last night, over the first 6 chapters. I made a 97!! I was in SHOCK! There is so much info I'm trying to jam into my brain I'm surprised I can keep it straight. In my Intro to Healthcare class we are doing vitals. That's a good refresher for me since I use to do that all the time when I was a CNA....7 years ago, lol. Then after that we are going to do the CPR, which is another good refresher. Medical terms....so far so good but my goodness another class with a lot of info.

Okay so this past Saturday we celebrated Myriam's birthday. Her husband went all out, rented her a car, rented a motel room, reservations at a resturant AND lol, tickets to see the Men of Playgirl. I'm still laughing about that one and thank goodness they didn't take EVERYTHING off. We all had a blast though and did so much laughing. It was a very interesting experience. Julie and I paid 20 bucks for her to go onstage....it was her birthday we had too....and one of the guys came out dressed like a cop....her husband is a cop! It was hysterical. Of course she got us back by waving dollar bills behind our heads and they would come out into the audience and dance right in front of you. I know I blushed! lol So that was my Saturday and now I'm looking forward to a quiet one with no screaming women in the background, lol
The resturant we went to was called Alligator Soul....you guessed it they serve alligator! No I wasn't brave enought to try it. I had a really delicous pasta salad that had grilled chicken and mushrooms in it and fresh mozzerella, it was soooo good! Myriam got us all an appetizer, sushi with crabmeat, that was good too. I'm not usually a sushi person but I do like the crab ones.

lol back to reality, have a great day :)

Happy February!

Today the kids have half a day of school. We have parent teacher conferences. I have Caitlin and Matthews back to back and then have to wait an hour for Justin's. They usually put all of them right together, which is nice. I know what they will say about Justin, he talks to much! lol

The groundhog saw his shadow so we are in store for 6 more weeks of winter! I'm such a wuss...I grew up in KS but now since I have been in the south for 7 years, wow where did the time go, if it gets below 50 I'm freezing. Go on you can laugh, my mom does :) I'm ready for summer, walking the beach, swimming, the nice warm sun....

Tomorrow 2 of my friends and I are going to SC to celebrate Myriam's birthday. She has had some health issues and her husband set the whole thing up which is really sweet of him but surprising on where we are going! He bought the tickets and everything. So I'll let you all guess on what we could be doing, hehe. It should be very entertaining....lol
