Whew what a night!

You would think that some things are easy right? lol of course not! Last night with book and paper in tow I arrive at the college with 20 minutes to spare. I like to get there early on the first day to find my classroom, etc. I know I must have looked like a dork trying to find my classroom which seemed to vanish like in an episode of the Twilight Zone, it just wasn't in the place that the administration office said it would be. So thankfully they were all still there and I asked. They looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Oh honey this is a class in one of the hospitals." Excuse me?? Where is the person who said it was here I would love to speak to her right about now. I inquire which hospital being that there are about half a dozen of them in Savannah. Oh well you will have to go upstairs and talk to allied health, we don't know which one. So I truck my behind up 2 flights of stairs and they tell me its Memorial, which is the one closest to the school. Thank you God! I climb back in the truck, check the time. I have 15 minutes to make it there and it's 6 pm in Savannah traffic. I get there and forget how huge Memorial is. I park in the closest parking lot I can find, which happens to be the Cancer Institute parking lot but at this time I didn't care I was on a mission! I go directly up to one of those nice security people in the car and ask him. He radioed it in and said hop in I'll take you there. Very cool! On the way he said right this number down and when you get done there is a phone in the hallway, call it and we will escort you back to your truck. Thank goodness I did this because the education building is clear on the other side of the hospital. I made it there 5 minutes late with about half the class late so I didn't feel so bad. The class itself went well. We meet once a week for 2 hours. Of course I have so many terms to remember and we test over 2 chapters a week along with having 250 questions to answer by next class. That's the price of night classes but I'm glad I'm taking this one at night. It gives me the whole week to study. Thank you to the nice security team at Memorial!

It was nice to hear from you Monica (mom....hairdresserwannabemedicalstudent) I had wondered what happened to you and didn't know that you left AOL too. Let me know if you start a blog here or somewhere else and thanks for the comment :)

Thanks to everyone who is still reading this journal. I really do appreciate it and feel fortunate to know a wonderful j-land group of people!

I hope that you are able to have a peaceful weekend!!!
I had to make my journal private for reasons beyond my control. I added your screen name that you use to leave comments, so I hope that you are able to still get in. I really don't know how all that works.
hugs,
Kathi

Wow! What a nice security guard. Glad to hear school is proceeding along. Hmmm...my experience as a medic in a hospital was that I was on my feet A LOT! Unless of course I worked the night shift, but even some of those would turn out to be busy and there was less help around. The lifting and moving of patients wasn't good for the back either. He should try for a paper pushing job maybe something in payroll. Or what about being a recruiter for a couple of years. Either way I hope it all works out for you guys! Your family has sacrificed much and deserves a little something good back. :-)
